Boots, Socks, and Smiles
I'm done with winter, and it's still January. I have had enough cold, my boots are dirty from the melted snow, and my car needs to go through the car wash yet again. I look in my wardrobe and all I can think about is what will be the warmest outfit because starting in October, I am continuously cold until April. So, that limits what I choose to wear during this transition period called "winter". I am a casual dresser so no need to get all gussied up for my co-workers since we are all trying to survive a cold office environment. What usually feels the coldest are my feet. I am not sure what you wear during the winter to keep your feet warm but I wear a lot of boots, booties, and socks. I am curious what socks others wear with their boots and booties. With tall boots do you wear ankle socks or no-shows ? Do you care if your socks match if you are wearing tall boots and you can't see the socks or do you wear knee high socks so they peek out the top? Do you wear heavy socks? It is a mystery because I do all of the above. For me, it depends on the fit of my boots, how long I will be wearing them, and if they are booties or tall boots. Most of the time I wear booties and let my socks show as I scrunch the socks around my ankles. When I wear tall boots, I sometimes let the knee highs show and other times, I just wear colorful socks to cover my feet and they never show. Here is what I have on today. Llama socks under my tall boots. Yes, llama novelty socks . No one can see them but they sure put a smile on my face this morning as I got dressed and headed out the door. It was a grey, wet morning and all it took was a hot cup of coffee and my llama socks to know the day was going to be OK. If I start my day with a smile, I usually go to bed the same way. So, next time you are dressing for the cold winter days and layering up the usual suspects to stay warm, I suggest you wear a fun pair of socks even if no one ever sees them.
