Featured Blogger: Kaelah Bee of Little Chief Honeybee
I can't wait to introduce Kaelah, our featured blogger this month. Her festive style, red hair and joyful personality make her the perfect blogger to start the holiday season! I adore her unique style and am inspired by her fashion updates and blogs that continue to delight and amuse me. I drool over her Honeybean Mobile Boutique and can only imagine how she is filling it for the holidays. I had the chance to talk with Kaleah to gleen some insights to share, so enjoy the "interview" and visit her blog Honeybeeinthecity.blogspot.com to find out more about this delightful style maven! Enjoy! ~ Nanci How long have you been a "fashionista"? I still don't consider myself a fashionista of any kind honestly! I just wake up and get dressed in the morning, and somewhere along the way I decided to share that with the world! I haven't always had the style I have now though. In high school I was really into Abercrombie, Hollister, etc. I definitely wore preppy styles, but I went to hardcore shows on the weekend and experimented with bright makeup. I kind of always made it my own. I guess I was doing something "right" as I was voted "Best Dressed" and "Most Likely to be Famous" my senior year thanks to my clashing style. Of course I came from a school of head to toe camo so take it for what you will! ;) Where do you look for fashion trends? I normally don't care if something is trendy or not. Jeffrey Campbell Litas had their time in the spotlight for a while this past year and I have 4 pairs, but I'm going to continue to wear them no matter how many passive aggressive remarks get made on Twitter about how ugly they are! They're loud and fun. That's what I like! What are your favorite sources of inspiration? I love reading other life + style blogs. Nothing is as inspiring as seeing what other real girls wear. I don't read Vogue, I don't care who wears what on the red carpet, and you won't ever find me watching Fashion Week. What is your personal style? I'm undeniably feminine in my endless supply of floral dresses and ruffled cardigans, but my hefty amount of tattoos and piercings (and bright red hair!) definitely add an edge to them. At least I think so! My style is such a mess sometimes. One day I'm all dolled up for a date, and the next I'm wearing clashing patterns and ripped tights. It's a hodgepodge at best! What is your favorite place to shop? Thrift stores on the sale days! I have our thrift stores in Nashville mapped out for their sale days and I know exactly when to go. I can get a torn/stained dress for 50 cents and then just alter it at home to be as good as new! And it'll be one of a kind so what's better than that?! Tell me about your favorite outfit. It changes with the day honestly! Right now I'm really loving my hot dog dress and this fun colorful look for Autumn . What is your favorite "go-to" legwear? Opaque tights, without a doubt! I wear them year round. Even in the sweltering summer heat of Nashville. They're great for these super short dresses they're making these days! What is the best way to update an outfit? Add a different color pair of tights, a fresh cardigan, or even just a new funky pair of shoes! What never goes out of style? A classy cardigan! What is the next trend we can expect this fall/winter? Your guess is as good as mine! I can just tell you that I avoid all "knitwear" for the most part! I do not look good in sweater dresses, thus I avoid them like the plague! I pretty much don't shop in retail stores between October and March. I don't get along with winter wardrobes! What are you looking forward to this Christmas? This is the one time of the year when the whole family gets together at my Grandpa's house. We enjoy being together. I also love the holiday food. I can't cook worth a darn but I sure love to bake! What do you wish for this Christmas? Honestly, I would love to wake up to a white Christmas. It never happens here, but I really do dream of a white Christmas!
