Trend Report: Fall Fashions Featured
Las Vegas Accessories Shows : February 2012 LOTS of activity at the WINN Show as well as ATS (Accessories the Show) and MAGIC! Buyers scurried from booth to booth as wholesalers and manufacturer reps showed off the latest and most exciting fashions and accessories for next fall, stirring up conversation and enthusiasm for their new lines. The layered silhouette still remains the dominant look with the opportunity of the retailer and customer to make it unique and personal with new colors, textures and accessories. It seems that the idea for fall fashion is layer—sheer—tie--and tier. Good news for FOOT TRAFFIC, the layering starts at the bottom with either footless tights, leggings or capris and then builds upward. Long tunics, flowing shirts layered over tanks and tees looked comfortable and flattering to women of all sizes and shapes. Jackets were everywhere sporting asymmetrical cuts and big buttons for interest. Hemlines were uneven and many skirts were longer in the back-- jackets as well. Scarves add yet another layer of color and texture. Show Highlights Materials set the tone • Sheer flowing fabrics and loose structured tops • Cottons in various weights • Flannels and soft plaids • Naturals/ Organics (cotton, hemp, silk, linen) • Polyester Silhouettes • Layers upon layers from scarf to leggings • Skinny jeans, leggings, and footless tights • Tunics and long shirts (to cover derriere) • Unstructured asymmetrical tops • Longer in back/ jackets, shirts and skirt • White shirts in every fabric and shape • Ruffles on everything from purses to tops and dresses • Sheered skirts and shirts to adjust skirt and sleeve lengths Fabrics design • Batiks from China, India and Bali • Tie-dyed cottons and silks • Floral prints abound, from small scale to large • Chevrons ( Missoni influenced) • Plaid (looked the freshest amidst all of the florals and patterns) • Asian inspired prints with handwork and embellishments • Cheetah/leopard animal print is considered a neutral, mixed with florals and brights • Lace Colors for fall • Rust/orange/tangerine • Denim blue • Khaki green • Turquoise and Peacock • Purple in all hues • Raspberry and hot pink • Black and Grey (of course!)
